These pages are typically used by businesses and/or persons who have a need to promote themselves (such as authors, musicians, etc.). It is a form of publicity. To create a new Facebook fan page, log into Facebook and go to your personal profile page. Then scroll all the way to the bottom of the page and look for the navigation bar. Click on the word "Advertising." When the new screen loads, click on "Pages" in the top navigation bar. That screen offers several instructional options for creating a fan page. If you haven't done one before, click "Step by Step" and it will help you create one. The tutorial I wrote is how to optimize that page once you've already created it. Thanks for your question!
